The nearly 1000 glyphs in the script lettering, which is available in Regular and Bold styles, support all Latin-based languages as well as Russian, Bulgarian, and other Cyrillic languages. Second Lesson is a calligraphic typeface family that adheres to the elegant and conventional handwritten typography taught in schools. The weight axis ranges from thin to thick, while the smoothness axis changes the stroke of a typeface from round to sharp.Īlthough I consider Mulhim Changing Font to be a new and different font in many ways, I decided to keep the new font Mulham’s name because it agreed with its predecessor in the idea of creating a digital font from my daily handwriting, and I hope that users of the font will find inspiration in it.Ī traditional handwriting typeface is Second Lesson. Instead of choosing the user between a limited number of line weight or shape options (normal or thick, smooth or sharp), the change feature gives the user the freedom to specify the thickness and sharpness of the line in two axes: the weight axis, and the smoothness axis. In addition, it has worked to expand the use of the font even within the scope of the single language by adding the change feature, from which the name “Inspiring Variable Font” comes. This is in addition to adding more than 200 paired typefaces, and variations of the single letter to maintain the natural rhythm of my handwriting.Īs for making the font more widely used, I have added hundreds of characters so that the new variant Mulhim font transcends the Arabic language to its similarities with the appearance of languages such as Persian and Urdu, in addition to the basic and extended Latin letters. To raise the aesthetic aspect first, I drew the shapes of the Arabic letters again, focusing mainly on the harmony of the group of letters. So in 2019, I set out to redesign my handwriting in order to produce a more elegant font first, and a flexible second in terms of multilingualism and versatility. Since it was my first experience with font design, the first version of font had many issues with designing letterforms and aesthetics, drawing curves, letter ratios, font programming, and using appropriate OpenType features. Molham font 2016 was a fixed font with two weights (normal or thick) only and only supported the Arabic language. I designed an inspirational font for the first time in 2016 as a personal project to document my daily writing font.
